Seek the Spirit in All You Do
These quotes come from Teachings of the Presidents of the Church - Ezra Taft Benson, Lesson 12. Here is the link for the entire lesson. I am SO grateful for the Holy Ghost! Thankfully that is something I can say I do not take for granted! It is truly one of the greatest blessings in my life! The Holy Ghost has comforted me, taught me, protected me and guided me. I could never have gotten through the challenges in my life the way I have without the sweet companionship of the Holy Ghost! I love President Benson's reminder that to be in tune with the Spirit takes daily attention.
"Being in tune with the Spirit of the Lord is the greatest need we all have. We should strive for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost all the days of our lives."
Similarly, Elder David A. Bednar, in his October 2010 General Conference talk (here is the link), said this:
"These four words—“Receive the Holy Ghost”—are not a passive pronouncement; rather, they constitute a priesthood injunction—an authoritative admonition to act and not simply to be acted upon (see 2 Nephi 2:26). The Holy Ghost does not become operative in our lives merely because hands are placed upon our heads and those four important words are spoken. As we receive this ordinance, each of us accepts a sacred and ongoing responsibility to desire, to seek, to work, and to so live that we indeed “receive the Holy Ghost” and its attendant spiritual gifts."
How much richer and happier our lives will be if we will seek for the companionship of and let our daily acts be guided by the Holy Ghost, and then recognize the blessings that come from doing so!
